Stevie Wonder and Annie Lennox Lead 2024 Grammys in Memoriam Tribute: Watch

The Recording Academy paid tribute to a host of late greats in its annual in memoriam segment at tonight’s Grammy Awards, with a live soundtrack led by several artists. Stevie Wonder opened with “For Once in My Life” and the Tony Bennett cover “The Best Is Yet to Come.” Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste, and Fantasia Barrino also performed covers of work by those who died in 2023, including Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.”

In addition to the aforementioned artists, the in memoriam segment honored Jimmy Buffett, Shane MacGowan, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tugoy the Dove, Ahmad Jamal, Andy Rourke, Rudolph Isley, Mary Weiss, Burt Bacharach, Gangsta Boo, Les McCann, Denny Laine, Chita Rivera, Jane Birkin, Wayne Kramer, David Lindley, Randy Meisner, Charlie Robison, Michael Rhodes, Gary Rossington, Gary Wright, Terry Kirkman, George Winston, Melanie, Jean Knight, Rodriquez, Marlena Shaw, Russell Batiste Jr., Rita Lee, Bobby Caldwell, Aaron Spears, Magoo, and Gordon Lightfoot.
