Netflix has released the trailer for Richard Linklater’s upcoming action-comedy, Hit Man. Watch Glen Powell star as a seductive faux assassin in the clip below.
Hit Man follows Gary Johnson (Powell) as he moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department. When his deviousness lands him in troubled waters with a young woman named Madison (Adria Arjona) who’s in an abusive relationship, plans go awry. The film, co-written by Linklater and Powell, is based on a 2001 Texas Monthly magazine article of the same name by Skip Hollandsworth.
“As Madison falls for one of Gary’s hit man personas — the mysteriously sexy Ron — their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception, and escalating stakes,” reads the official synopsis. The film also stars Austin Amelio, Retta, and Molly Bernard.
Hit Man will premiere on Netflix on June 7th following a limited theatrical release. It marks Linklater’s first live-action film since Where’d You Go, Bernadette in 2019. Be sure to read our 30th anniversary retrospective of Linklater’s classic film Dazed and Confused.
