Brian Johnson and Mark Knopfler Star in New Docuseries

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson and Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler are the stars of a new music docuseries from Sky Arts.

The series, titled Johnson and Knopfler’s Music Legends, will run six 60-minute episodes starting April 25th via the UK channels and streaming services Sky Arts, Freeview, and NOW — the latter being available to US audiences.

The series will follow Johnson and Knopfler as they interact and explore the legacies of six fellow music legends: Tom Jones, Sam Fender, Cyndi Lauper, Nile Rodgers, Carlos Santana, and Emmylou Harris (with the episodes running in that order).

“Join AC/DC singer, Brian Johnson and Dire Straits singer and guitarist, Mark Knopfler as they share their incredible knowledge and experiences with each other — and a hand-picked selection of music royalty,” reads Sky’s description of the program. “Guests including Sir Tom Jones, Nile Rodgers and Cyndi Lauper share stories from their own careers and discuss the tracks that shaped them as musicians and fans. Mark and Brian do the same, painting a fascinating portrait of their shared musical lives.

Notably, each episode features laid-back musical performances and collaborations between Johnson, Knopfler, and their guest. For example, in the Cyndi Lauper episode, she brings along her dulcimer to show Brian and Mark a new arrangement of her hit “True Colors”; meanwhile, the Santana episode sees the guitar legend jamming “Black Magic Woman” with the duo.

It’s setting up to be a banner year for Johnson, who is embarking on his first tour with AC/DC since 2016. The UK/European run kicks off in May, with tickets available here.

As mentioned, Johnson and Knopfler’s Music Legends will be available to stream in the US via NOW. For more on the docuseries, visit Sky’s website.
